Officials are set to announce the launch of the Allan Houston Mentoring Initiative in Louisville.

A statement from Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher says the Louisville native and former New York Knicks star is partnering with Metro Parks and Recreation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana and other agencies on Wednesday to launch the program, which will pair positive role models with youth facing adversity.

Houston said in the statement that he is excited about launching the collaborative initiative in his hometown and hopes it provides a framework to help children achieve success throughout their lives.
